Editing a full gallery and trying to keep everything looking consistent can feel really overwhelming.
If you’ve ever second-guessed your white balance or exposure across a set of images, this view will make this process so much easier.
Did you know Lightroom Classic has a hidden view that makes it easier to compare edits side by side? It does and it’s super easy to use!
When I first started editing in Lightroom, I didn’t even know this view existed. But once I found it, it became one of my favorite ways to check for consistency fast.
Here’s step-by-step how to use it.
Step 1:
In either the Library Grid view or the Develop module, select a group of photos you want to compare.
Step 2:
Then press the N key on your keyboard.
That’s it!
Survey View opens up, which lays out your selected images side by side with an uncluttered view so you can easily spot differences in things like:
White balance
Exposure
Skin tones
Overall editing style
You can add or remove images while in Survey View too—just hold down Command (or Ctrl on a PC) and click the image you want to remove from the view.
Seeing your images next to each other like this without all the clutter you see in the Library grid will give you a cleaner visual reference. This makes tweaking and fine-tuning so much easier. You’ll catch inconsistencies faster and end up with a more polished, professional-looking gallery.
Try it and I promise you’ll get more consistent edits.
Happy editing,
Erika
